NZAEE is a national, independent, non-profit organisation with eight branches from Northland to Otago/Southland, a national office in Wellington and around 400 members. It was formed in Christchurch in 1984 to promote and support environmental education (EE). Our initial focus was on schools and the natural environment but we soon widened to community education and the social, cultural and economic aspects of the environment.
Nationally we include teachers (from pre-school through to universities and polytechs), students, community organisations, people in local, regional and central government, education contractors and businesses. Our local members include an alpaca farmer, an historian, a surfer, community groups, education contractors, teachers, university staff and government employees (local, regional, central) and businesses, with an age range from 20s to 80s.
Because this is all more important than ever before.
If you have ideas about environmental education and education for sustainability for Christchurch and Canterbury you want to contribute, or if you want to find out more, email our local secretary Jocelyn: jyc497@gmail.com
National website www.nzaee.org.nz
Is easy. Just send the editor information about an event, activity or submission you want to share and it will go in ecoNet....as long as it's appropriate of course.
ecoNet is updated each Friday by Christchurch Branch of NZAEE (NZ Association for Environmental Education), a non-profit, national organisation of people working to promote and support environmental education, lifelong learning and sustainable behaviour throughout New Zealand/Aotearoa.
